I am sure some of you will be out on the ground this weekend, remember the wind chill factor and ensure if you are out under a basha or poncho that you construct it well. For my sins when I was a cadet I was out on the ground in March in the 80's. It rained the first night, but in the early hours of the morning it snowed up to a meter. When we woke up we had to dig ourselves out of the shelter. If we hadn't had put our bergans at the ends of our poncho and constructed the shelter right I wouldn't be here now. Make sure you have a flask and keep it filled with either tea/coffee or just hot water, that why you haven’t got to faff around trying to get a stove working straight away.
